I had been struggling to make progress with my Portuguese, having moved to Portugal a couple of years ago. Then I discovered Leo’s B1 Course and made a great leap forward: not only is his course interesting and fun, it is pedagogically very well thought out, with listening that I could finally understand, very useful idiomatic language, complex grammar points described in a simple of real-life context, and insightful cultural sections too. My confidence has been boosted enormously by the comprehension exercises in particular. I understand everything Leo says in Portuguese! I can’t wait to start B2 and continue to progress.

This B1 Course is brilliant.  I speak some Portuguese and had tried to teach myself and had looked into various courses both online and face to face but never found anything that really worked…until this!

The material is interesting and engaging, the grammatical and vocabulary items extremely well-chosen, level appropriate and relevant and most importantly, the explanations are really clear and helpful.  I finally understand some of the more complex areas such as the personal infinitive!  The fact that it is all delivered in Portuguese (with the option of following the transcript) is also brilliant as it adds another level of learning and practice.  I loved the fact that we didn’t get all the course material at once as it kept me motivated and engaged and working at a steady pace.  Providing prompts to cue AI to provide corrections on things I had written and the Q&A at the end of each unit were also invaluable resources and in conjunction with the intermediate podcasts, you have everything you need to succeed at B1.

As someone who has taught people how to teach languages for over 40 years, there is no doubt that Leo understands both language and teaching and I feel very lucky to have found this course.  I would 100% recommend it to anyone who wants to learn Portuguese.

I’ve been living in Portugal for two years, and the B1 Course has helped me tremendously in improving my Portuguese - especially grammar, verb tenses, and pronunciation. I live in a completely Portuguese neighborhood in Coimbra, and the course has been essential for improving my conversations with my neighbors and helping me integrate better into the country. I now feel that I have a much wider vocabulary than when I started. I recommend the B1 Course to anyone who already has some basic knowledge of Portuguese and wants to gain confidence speaking day to day. I also really enjoyed the Cultural Moments and the way the story is told throughout the course!

I’m Finnish, and I’m learning Portuguese because my husband and son are Portuguese. It’s very important to me to be able to speak Portuguese with them and with my husband’s family. What I liked most about the B1 Course was the variety of content - there were grammar lessons, phonetics lessons, and Cultural Moments. The grammar lessons were especially important to me since I had never studied grammar before. I recommend the B1 Course to anyone who wants to learn Portuguese at their own pace and who is interested in Portugal!

I loved the style of the lessons - they’re short, clearly explained, and easy to follow, even for beginners. It’s great to be able to learn from a native Portuguese speaker and hear the language used naturally. I really enjoyed the B1 Course because it’s very well structured. One big plus is how methodical it is - there are videos, virtual conversations, crossword puzzles, and I especially liked the concept of exercises corrected by ChatGPT. It’s amazing and works really well.
